Ughhh, this all raises so many questions! New York City is supposed to be a haven for people like me, and I am still getting my ass kicked by the same goons who were kicking my ass in high school. They probably want to kick my ass because they see what huge assholes we all are, with our cocaine and our cameras and our annoying music. I also wonder why it was that so many thousands of people wanted to stand for hours in the rain to get hot and filthy and have their pictures taken by strangers and probably get their asses kicked to boot. I was there too, and didn’t want to leave despite any of these issues, and why? Because I am no better than anyone I despise and couldn’t stop chasing the green monster. I degraded and debased myself for a few bucks, and yes, we all know where that money is going.

I feel like there ought to be some sort of deconstruction here, but, really, I don’t think any of us at WTPWB would disagree with anything the guy’s got to say. There is this part, which makes him sound like a sort-of “glass half empty” sort of guy (a ‘hipster’ trait that people seem to hate a lot):

First read left me wondering what it would be like if anyone offered me money to play a guitar, and how bad could it be, because its getting paid to play a guitar. On the other hand, I do work thats vaguely “creative” (that term becomes more elusive / vague to me as time passes), and I guess playing Weezer covers is probably the guitarist’s equivalent of what I have to do at my day job a lot of the time.

The $800,000 injection will help to jumpstart the brewery’s plan to add 13,500 square feet to its operation, increasing brewing capacity nearly six-fold.

We chatted most the party away–Neal, you and I–then agreed to meet your friends at SOB. The stupid taxies kept passing us by, so we hoofed it the whole way. $30 bucks wasn’t so bad for all three of us!

You shuffled through your numerous business cards for several minutes, when all I wanted to do was snatch one out of your hands. My Southern sensibilities prevented such an intrusion.

I tracked down GFP via Amanda, so maybe we’ll bump into each other during CMJ. I want to talk with you more about film and music while proving how much you sparked the joie de à vivre into my Sunday morning.

So let’s see–if you are auditing an organization that combines this with this, I don’t think I would need a full two years to put the pieces as to what’s going on here. In addition to a huge backlog of unresolved applications and a litany of complaints ranging from bribery to low morale, from where we sit, it seems pretty clear that these people are just simply drunk, all day long.

For example, when issuing citations, the SLA decided that fruit fly infestations are analogous to putting crap booze in a top shelf bottle, so they combined the offenses into one indiscernable category. Clearly these people are purists.
