The other day, I suggested that perhaps — just maybe — putting Kurt Cobain’s likeness into a video game was a little bit crass. Turns out, his late wife (no, really, shes late to everything — we were supposed to interview her today and she never showed up) agrees with me.
Sort of.
Here’s what she has to say, via Twitter, which apparently she spends most of her time on, about the upcoming Guitar Hero, which WILL, for the record, include Kurdt’s likeness:
“not in twenty JILLION years would i EVER have allowed this and this islethal.”
“we get NO money for this, travesty, Frances gets NO money for the rape.”
Remember that kid in grade school — one who comes to mind in my life was named Matt, now the assistant women’s soccer coach at a college nobody’s ever heard of — who would tell you things, and then when you asked for the most basic verification, make up some weird story about it? That’s sort of like Courtney. Except shes an adult. And a whoooore.
Maybe it started the first time she said “I’m in a decent band,” and became something of a lifestyle once people started believing it. Anyway, according to pretty good sources — for example, the people who make Guitar Hero — she was not only aware, but more or less instrumental, in the thing:
“Courtney supplied us with photos and videos and knew exactly what she wanted Kurt to look like,” [an Activision spokesperson] told Rolling Stone. “She picked the wardrobe and hair style, which turned out to be the ‘Teen Spirit’ look.”
And when you’re busted, pass the buck: she’s handed responsibility to everyone under the sun, but mainly Dave Grohl, who, she figures, probably ought to be sodomized:

Bad as it is that an image of Kurt Cobain will be used to, among other things, “Rock his way through Bon Jovi’s ‘You Give Love a Bad Name’”, I think the thing we’d all like to know is, Courtney, Jesus, whats with all the rape talk? As difficult it is to forgive Grohl for the whole Foo Fighters thing, I’m not sure it warrants putting something up near his asshole. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
